EAA Chapter 1303 Aviation Education Announcement!

After the great success of our Silent Auction at the Pancake Breakfast this past May, our EAA chapter has decided to help send a young woman or young man aged 16 thru 18 to the EAA Advanced Air Academy in Oshkosh Wisconsin for the summer of 2017.
We are very excited and would like to thank YOU and the local Lapeer businesses for the generous donations!
During this year and up till EARLY IN 2017 our EAA Chapter will be actively looking for young men and women with an avid interest of a possible future in aviation.
The Challenge and what we will be looking for:
Posted above is a “link” to a Questionnaire Type Survey with a series of 4 questions to be answered by each interested young man or young woman. Please answer this Survey as soon as possible.

EAA AIR ACADEMY
Fun and discovery combine for an experience that young people can find nowhere else at the EAA Air Academy, a series of weeklong camps designed to introduce young people ages 12-18 to the aviation world.
Campers are engaged through a variety of hands-on activities while staying at the EAA Air Academy Lodge in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Experienced aviation instructors help them delve into flight through studies, hands-on demonstrations, flight simulation, and other exciting activities.
Recognized by MSN Money as one of 10 summer camps “worth the money,” Air Academy provides the foundation for a lifelong love of aviation.
AIR ACADEMY LODGE
The lodge has 12 bunkrooms with four bunks per room and shared bathroom facilities. The lodge also has four special needs accessible suites, each with private bathroom facilities. Each suite is also equipped with four bunks.
Recreational facilities include the Air Academy Lodge library, gazebo with fire pit, volleyball court, slate pool table, foosball, carpet ball, ping-pong, TV/video viewing, and more.
The Air Academy Lodge will add to the unique and memorable adventure you’ll have at the Air Academy.

The EAA Advanced Air Academy provides an atmosphere for mature students to become totally immersed in the world of flight. Ground instruction and introductory recreation flight experiences highlight this meaningful, action-packed camp. It combines “in-the-air” and “on-the-ground” hands-on activities.
The EAA Advanced Air Academy also includes full participation (access to forums, flight line and all associated activities) in EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, the world’s premier aviation event!

Experience the thrill of flight in both an airplane and helicopter
An academic study of the history and technologies of aviation presented in the Buehler Leadership Center at the EAA Aviation Center.
Workshop experiences, including an introduction to many of the skills required for the construction, restoration and maintenance of aircraft. This is accomplished in workstations by working with aircraft parts, the construction of full size aircraft components and Aero modeling projects.
EAA AirVenture will provide an exciting element to the Academy program. The forums, workshops, exhibits, aircraft, and air shows provide an aviation and personal experience without equal.
Special activities may include field trips to area aviation facilities are also included to familiarize participants with a wide segment of the aviation community and its activities.
